The DNA of how I see and construct the images of a COUTUREBOY is familial. My uncles Cecil and Ivory Sharp are foundational blueprints.

COUTUREBOY® is a study of male beauty. Through garments, photography, and film, we explore form and sensuality. The male body is both subject and medium.

Gene Tolan is a photographer, visual strategist, and artistic researcher whose work examines the relationship between the male body, the semiotic codes of branding, and visual design. Working across photography, garments, and film, his practice explores how images construct beauty, sensuality, and contemporary masculinity.

Through COUTUREBOY®, Tolan integrates studio practice and artistic research to develop garments, images, and films that position male beauty as both a cultural subject and a visual language.
